How Can We Help?

Customize Your ‘Not Authorized’ Page Text

Customize Your ‘Not Authorized’ Page Text

Uh oh! One of your prospective members has followed a link that takes them to members-only content. What do they see? “You are not authorized to view that page.”

Maybe that’s what you prefer, but maybe you’re hoping for something a little more informative or friendly. Don’t worry, your site admin can edit that text!

How to change your text:

Starting in the ‘Admin’ section of intranet, navigate to the ‘Edit Custom Settings (SiteAdmins)’ link. From there, open the ‘General/Login’ accordion and you will find an editable text box labeled “‘Not Authorized’ Message.”

Your default text is: “You are not authorized to view that page.”

If you want to prompt your site user for a log in, or just include more information (Hint: This is a great place to pitch your membership options!), here is the place to do it. You can even include basic HTML, such as internal and external links.

You can easily preview and test your changes by saving them and clicking the preview link in the help text (accessed by clicking the ? icon).
