Advocacy Update: US Congressional Data

With the 2020 Election and Census, a lot of changes are taking place in a lot of data feeds. Here is the latest for those of you with the Advocacy Module. If you are not seeing any of these updates in your data, please contact Matrix with an example of bad data that you are seeing so that we may investigate

  • All Congressional Offices in your MatrixMaxx data should now be updated.
    • New Offices/Congresspersons should be in place
    • Old Offices should be ‘out of business’
  • Our data source no longer sends/supports the following, so we are working to remove this data from the databases so you are not seeing old/inaccurate data
    • Congress Profile Photos (removing for now, but confident we will eventually find a new/better source)
    • Key Office Staff (removing and not confident we will find a new viable source with a reasonable cost)
  • Committees
    • Senate Committees are now updated, as far as we can tell
    • House Committees are partially updated [Update: it appears that while our govtrack data source still provides committee data, it no longer provides some/all of the sub-committee data ]
  • Districts
    • Soon, Congressional District boundaries will start to change
    • We are working on an automated process to periodically check for and apply district updates.
    • We will update/announce when we have this running and the first updates have successfully been applied.
