Over the past week or so, any of you who are integrated with PayPal’s PayFlow Pro gateway may have received a notice regarding Carding and the preventative steps PayPal is taking.
The subject line read: ‘Payflow Carding Prevention‘
(If you didn’t get this notice, it would have gone to whoever in your association is listed as the main contact or alternate contact on the PayFlow account.)
The MatrixMaxx team has reviewed the PayPal Carding Prevention documentation, and we believe that no immediate coding changes are necessary on our side. (i.e., No MatrixMaxx upgrade is necessary for this to function.) This notice is simply an announcement of PayPal’s intended upgrades.
Next Steps and Actions:
- Please make sure someone on your accounting team reads this PayPal Carding Prevention documentation to familiarize yourselves with this upgrade.
- If you do notice large volumes of denied, small-dollar-value transactions, please contact the MatrixMaxx team and we will look at putting velocity restrictions onto your cart/payment page. (We have not, to date, had any clients report this. Association carts/stores may not be a big target for this type of nefarious activity.)
