Everyone is looking for creative ways to increase non-dues revenue. With the uptick in webinar production coming out of 2020/quarantine, this gives a great opportunity to sell recordings of these content-rich sessions.
There are two parts to selling access to these recordings:
- Determine which video streaming service you will use to host and serve your videos. (This article talks about using VIMEO for this purpose, as it offers a variety of reasonably-priced packages that support domain-restricted embedded video streaming.)
- Determine how you will sell/provide access to these recorded streams. (This article talks about using MatrixMaxx’s Commerce Product module for this purpose.)

VIMEO video upload and setup
Vimeo ( https://vimeo.com/ ) is a great way to get started with serving and selling video access, offering domain-restricted embedded video streaming with all of it’s paid packages, currently starting as low as $7/month ( https://vimeo.com/upgrade/?vcid=30409 )
VIMEO setup CHECKLIST for Integration with CommerceMaxx to SELL access; You need to make sure that the video can only serve embedded, and only on certain domain(s), and these steps are marked CRITICAL
- General
- Give it a good title and thumbnail!
- Privacy Settings
- CRITICAL: Download setting: OFF (you don’t want users to download the video and pass it around!)
- CRITICAL: Link setting: ‘Hide from Vimeo’ (Private on your account and embeddable; NOT browsable via direct link so individuals can’t pass the link around)
- CRITICAL: Embed setting: where can the video be embedded: set to ‘Specific domains’ and then set the domain that your store is on (e.g., association.org or matrixmaxx.com or nafc.org, etc.)

- CRITICAL: Embed Code is here! You need this code to put into the CommerceMaxx product
- Interaction Tools/settings
- Chapter settings: to make easier for user to navigate

- Allow user to reload/replay same video in a loop
- Allow user to go to next video if you’ve sold a ‘series’ of several videos as one product
- Call to Action to promote another video purchase
MatrixMaxx Commerce Product Setup
To set-up an Streaming Video product in MatrixMaxx, follow these steps when entering your new product:
- On the first screen of entering a new product, select “Streaming Video” in the Version field.
- An “Embed Code” box will appear. This is where you will paste the Enbed code that you get from Vimeo are whatever video service you are using.
- You may paste more than one video in this box, just paste the embed code for each video one after the other.
- You may put other text and simple HTML coding, like bold and italics tags around your text.
When a user purchases a Streaming Video product, they will get a link to the product page that shows each of the embedded videos you added to the Embed Code box. THis link will also be available in their “My Downloads and Links” section of their Profile page.
